Our Business is Unix

Unix-Pros is a division of I.T. ProS, Inc., a Virginia based IT Staffing and Consulting firm. This division dedicated to Unix, was started by a group of Unix Gurus, who were initially a part of IT-Pros.

At Unix-Pros, we provide complete UNIX solutions. Our UNIX Staffing & Consulting Services group provides immediate short and long-term employee placements (contract, contract-to-hire, and full-time).

With a core of highly experienced UNIX consultants partnering with senior technical recruiters, we are able to bring the brightest and most technically proficient employees and consultants to client organizations.

Our training division offers a variety of customized UNIX courses ranging from UNIX fundamentals to System Administrators.

UNIX

Described by one of its developers as "a weak pun on Multics" (which was an experimental, time-sharing operating system at Bell Labs in the 1960s), Unix took off in the early 1970s as a general-purpose operating system. Estimates place some 50 - 70% of the Internet as being hosted on Unix machines. Unix popularity grew in the early 1990s as large scale SMP servers began to replace the mainframe.
