OFF-SHORE
DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY
An
outline of steps involved in taking a software project offshore
are:
-
An I.T. ProS Project Leader and a Project Coordinator
from the client are nominated.
These two people are responsible for all activities.
- Project
Leader visits the client's office to establish rapport with the
Project Coordinator, discuss and understand requirements, establish
communication protocol and finalize reporting format and frequency.
In addition, client's design approach, development and testing
standards and norms for acceptance are understood. A detailed
time plan is prepared for entire project showing deliverables.
-
The Project Leader returns with the above information and prepares
detailed requirements specification, preliminary and detailed
design for client's approval. In some cases, some amount of preliminary
design is completed onsite during the Project Leader's visit.
Subsequently, the development and testing take place.
-
In many cases various steps mentioned above overlap, compressing
the total time. The deliverables may be made in phases. The project
as envisaged could include Onsite Installation and Implementation
Support followed by Offsite Maintenance.
The
actual sequence of steps could vary depending on the specifications
of a given project. I.T. ProS, Inc. has processes in place to make
offshore development efficient, successful and cost effective.
